Epitomizing his character Elton’s Clueless tagline, Jeremy Sisto wheels around with daughter Charlie Ballerina on Monday in SoHo.
The 16-month-old is the only child for the former Law & Order star and wife Addie Lane — and is also Dad’s favorite Big Apple baby.
“She doesn’t take any crap, like most New Yorkers,” he jokingly tells New York.
Sisto, 36, can currently be seen in Manhattan Theatre Club’s Spirit Control.

Despite her growing belly, Miranda Kerr is sticking to her high-fashion pre-pregnancy style.
From military jackets and slim-cut tees to skinny jeans and ballet flats, the model still rocks her fave cool-girl basics while out and about.
During Fashion Week, she stylishly stepped out in a purple print mini, brown leather motorcycle jacket, black booties and Prada‘s Glace Calf Studded Satchel ($2595) to attend the Zac Posen show on Sept. 30.
Love Miranda’s flirty, yet edgy maternity look?
You’re in luck. We’ve rounded up a similar outfit — with all items $90 and under!

With her due date approaching, mom-to-be Alanis Morissette celebrated her baby shower Sunday in Santa Monica, Calif.
The singer, 36, arrived at the afternoon party “beaming and showing off her cute baby bump in a black dress. She looked great,” a source tells PEOPLE.
About 25 guests celebrated — and dropped hints as to the sex of the baby, carrying gift bags and balloons emblazoned with “baby boy”.
“After enjoying catered food, the group also played loud games and seemed to have a lot of fun,” adds the source.
Morissette’s husband, Mario “Souleye” Treadway, also stopped by towards the end of the shower.

You may recognize his voice and presence on your TV screen, but our celebrity blogger Mark McGrath has a new role — dad.
The Sugar Ray frontman is proud papa to 6-month-old twins Lydon Edward and Hartley Grace, his children with fiancée Carin Kingsland, as well as the new host of Don’t Forget the Lyrics!, airing weekdays on VH1 and in syndication.
In his final blog, McGrath, 42, tackles his first extended stay away from his babies — he’s currently working in New York City, reportedly on the new season of Celebrity Apprentice.

Man oh man, do I miss my little ones! It’s not a kind of gentle longing or casual observation, but a true soul-crushing ache that has reached new territories of my aging heart. In fact, the pain is so severe that my ever-changing career and future ability to earn are in serious jeopardy … I mean, if being in the entertainment industry requires such an extreme sacrifice of being away from my family for long stretches at a time, well then I guess I’m just not ready for my close up, Mr. DeMille!
Okay, so I’m being a bit overdramatic and exaggerating, but as I sit here on a gloomy Sunday night in N.Y.C., the loneliness is a powerful force. I have been in this beautiful city — though I love it, my favorite thing about it is that I don’t live here! — for two weeks now, and it’s the first extended stay away from my angelic little 6-month-old twins, Hartley and Lydon.
Now of course I knew I was going to miss them emotionally — I’ve been touring the world with Sugar Ray for 15 years now and have felt that pull with my friends, my dogs and my beloved Carin. This time, however, is a whole new sensory overload, for not only am I missing them, I’m missing moments of their lives and development that you just can’t get back.
You parents out there know what little moments I’m talking about … the “Lydon just rolled over,” “Hartley just had her first taste of banana!” moments that delight us to no end, but bore everyone outside of the immediate circle to tears!
Hartley — Courtesy Denise Miles
Now the advancements in technology are incredible, and the immediacy of video, pictures and Skype almost make it tolerable, but there just ain’t no substitute for holding your baby in your arms. When I’m at home, I can put Lydon or Hartley on my lap and just stare into their precious faces for hours like a crazy person. I think about how far Carin and I have come to get to that perfect moment, and I’m so thankful for and humbled by these two blessings.
I can’t help but think about the men and women in the U.S. military who have children, and the anguish and anxiety they must feel when they are deployed and away from their families. Yes I am lonely, and yes I desperately miss my babies and Carin, but no one is shooting at me. I’m not going to enter any hot zones in SoHo, unsure of whether or not I’m going to make it back home to see my family again. Some have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to those men and women, on behalf of Carin, Lydon, Hartley and I, we thank and honor you.
Look at what this blog is making me do, actually explore my feelings! That is torture to an Irishman, and nothing a bottle of Jameson couldn’t cure. But wait a minute, I have to go to work at 6 a.m. tomorrow and provide for the only thing that really matters in my life anymore … family. Uh-oh, I think I’m growing up!
This being my last blog, I wanted to thank everyone for their lovely comments. I really enjoyed reading all of your stories and advice, so much so that it really motivated me to dig deep and write a personal blog. I am working on my Web site, MarkMcGrath.com, which will be up in early 2011, and I will continue to write about my experiences as a dad. I would love you guys to come along … there are plenty more stages to go through, and I won’t be able to make it without your support!

Courtesy American Academy of Pediatrics “A lot of newborn books are very polarizing,” says Dr. Laura Jana, a pediatrician

Courtesy American Academy of Pediatrics
“A lot of newborn books are very polarizing,” says Dr. Laura Jana, a pediatrician. “Parents either love or hate them. We wanted to address what we wanted to tell, and what parents want to know.”
So along with pediatrician pal Dr. Jennifer Shu, Jana released Heading Home With Your Newborn in 2004.
But since ideas and regulations about taking care of baby are always changing, the pair released a second edition last month (American Academy of Pediatrics, $16).
The book reads like a veritable baby bible, with stories on feeding, crying, sleeping, car safety and even…well, what you’ll find in your little one’s diaper.

“We try to be non-judgmental, because we know there are many right ways to take care of a baby,” Shu says. “Like, if you want to formula feed, or can’t breastfeed, we don’t want you to feel badly about it.”
Adds Jana, “We don’t tell people what to do without also giving them a sense of how to do it. For instance, it’s best to have your baby sleep on his back, but he won’t, so now what do you do?” Jana and Shu tackle the hot-button issues — think vaccinating — as well as lighter topics, like mommy time.
“People get so focused on baby, they forget they need to take care of themselves,” Jana says. “Fundamentally, the most important factors are caring and nurturing, and that gets lost sometimes. Make it fun. If parents feel comfortable, they’re more likely to enjoy parenting.”
Both moms, Jana and Shu had four kids under the age of 7 when they wrote the book’s first edition. “Both of us are fairly candid. I breastfed all my kids, and one thing people often ask is, ‘How do you know when your milk is in?’ ” Jana reveals. “For me, it was when my husband walked in and said, ‘You did not have those when I married you!’ That’s a good way of describing it — it wasn’t subtle. We share those sorts of things so readers get a sense of reality, and not just clinical writing. We don’t like to bore people.”
They’re also not afraid to dish on doctors. “You’ll notice in both editions, we give parents an inside perspective on what we’d look for in a pediatrician,” Jana says. “It’s a trust, a partnership. You don’t want someone who bows to the latest trends, but instead, gives you relevant information.”
But the biggest piece of wisdom the doctors have? Trust your instincts. “I encourage parents to believe in themselves, and have confidence,” Shu adds. “New parents are constantly asking for validation — which I think is fine — but remember you spend the most time with your baby, and you know your baby best.” Check out some excerpts from Heading Home With Your Newborn on HealthyChildren

KCSPresse/Splash News Online Like many expectant parents, Céline Dion consulted baby books looking for the perfect names for her twin boys, born Saturday

KCSPresse/Splash News Online
Like many expectant parents, Céline Dion consulted baby books looking for the perfect names for her twin boys, born Saturday.
“I’ve read nearly 15,000 names,” the singer, 42, tells French magazine Gala, “and nothing has stuck.”
In her first interview since delivering her sons, Dion explains that the problem may derive from excessive input on the issue.
“Because [elder son] René-Charles goes to school in the United States, he’s suggested English first names. My mother, on the other hand, has been hinting about very French first names and we’re going a little bit crazy trying to decide.”

Now mom to a brood of boys, the singer says she’s happy being queen bee.
“Honestly if I had a choice, certainly I’d have liked to have a girl,” Dion admits. “But the day I learned that I was expecting two boys, I wasn’t disappointed. It was a day of tremendous joy. I’m truly happy. Everything went well and the babies are in good health. That’s all that counts.”
Conceived through in vitro fertilization after multiple attempts, the twins are fraternal. “They were in two different sacs,” husband René Angelil explains. “During her pregnancy Céline had already remarked about their difference, saying, ‘One is more active than the other.’”
Having delivered the boys via c-section, Dion makes light of the surgery, laughing, “I’m telling you, if they could have come out through my ears at the time they were ready to come into the world, that would have suited me fine.”
She plans to return to Las Vegas in March as scheduled — though fans may see a bit more of Dion than they’re used to. Having added a little over 40 lbs. to her frame during pregnancy, the weight gain is the least of her concerns.
“I don’t care about my figure. I never have and I’m not worried,” says Dion. “In any case, I’m not going on any diet because I want to breastfeed … Besides I have a really good stylist and if it’s a question of going up a dress size or two — well, so be it.

Mamma mia!
Five months after giving birth, Monica Bellucci officially introduces daughter Léonie on the cover of Italian Vanity Fair.
Saying she’s happy at 46, the actress describes herself as “feeling like a ripe pear.”
In an interview accompanying the Vincent Peters photographs, Bellucci — already mom to 6-year-old daughter Deva with husband Vincent Cassel — says that she “takes Léonie everywhere.”
“At home with Vincent, sometimes we’ll put both daughters in bed with us. When I travel alone, I put both them in the bed with me.”
Despite the demands of new motherhood, Bellucci’s schedule hasn’t slowed. She recently wrapped a Dolce & Gabbana advertising spot, as well as a feature film, Manuale d’Amore 3. The latter required a little patience on behalf of her costar, Robert DeNiro.
“I’ve been nursing Léonie during shooting,” she explains. “Every three hours, I need a half-hour break to breastfeed.”

Marion Curtis/Startraks It’s been talked about for months now, and finally Mariah Carey has come clean

Marion Curtis/Startraks
It’s been talked about for months now, and finally Mariah Carey has come clean: She’s pregnant!
“Yes, we are pregnant. This is true,” Carey, 41, said on the Today show Thursday morning as part of a sneak peek at a three-part Access Hollywood interview.
“It’s been a long journey. It’s been tough because I’ve been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy.”
Husband Nick Cannon, 30, joined the interview to talk about the “absolutely emotional” news, adding, “The greatest gift on earth is a child.”

Carey, who also told of a miscarriage two years ago, would not reveal her due date. She would only say “it’s still early” and “expecting is great.”
Ever-supportive Cannon said of the loss, “It strengthened our relationship so much … she handled it so well.”
The news, of course, won’t surprise those who have followed the couple’s coy references to pregnancy and babies over the past few months. Rumors flew as the expanding singer seemed to bloom a little more every week, and both Cannon and Carey have spoken about their desire for children.
In August, Carey fanned the flames by stepping out in Brazil wearing a maternity dress. She quickly addressed the ensuing frenzy, explaining she is “superstitious” about pregnancy and promising, “When the time is right, everyone will know.”
Days later, Cannon gushed about his wife’s motherly instincts, telling PEOPLE that “she’s very nurturing.” But not until now have they admitted they’re soon to welcome their own bundle of joy.
Now that the news is out, people will clamor to know the sex of the child. The couple wouldn’t say yet, but thinks Carey will eventually cave — because she loves to decorate.

To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, teen star Selena Gomez

Albert Michael/Startraks
Look who’s a do-gooder this Halloween!
To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, teen star Selena Gomez treated her West Coast fans to a private concert last night at the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, Calif.
Not only did the 18-year-old sign autographs (and give hugs!), she also performed three original songs along with her band, The Scene.
But that’s not all she’s doing for the global humanitarian relief organization this holiday.
She’s also created an adorable, limited-edition T-shirt ($10, below). Part of her new fashion line Dream Out Loud, it’s available exclusively at Kmart stores nationwide through Oct. 31.

Even better: Seven dollars from each sale will go to the charity’s lifesaving programs that provide clean water, immunizations, better nutrition and education for children.
Inspired by her own fond memories of trick or treating for UNICEF as a child growing up in Grand Prairie, Texas, the Disney star joined the Halloween campaign three years ago to draw attention to the cause.
“I remember how our teachers used to hand out the cardboard boxes in class,” says Gomez, who was named the youngest UNICEF ambassador last year at the age of 17.
Albert Michael/Startraks
“And we used to watch a little video. I think the most I ever collected was about five dollars, but that’s what I love about it. We tell the kids not to focus on the amount but on the fact that they’re helping.”
So what is the Wizards of Waverly Place actress planning to wear this Halloween?
“I don’t think I ever had a bad costume because my mom always let me pick it out. One of my favorites was Jasmine from Aladdin. I was five years old and I had the little top and pants,” reveals Gomez. ”This year, I am going to be Katy Perry.”

Celebrity fave Epicuren is branching out — to babies! The luxe skincare brand recently debuted a brand new Epicuren Baby line with help from celebrity photographer Anne Geddes, who shot the cover art for each package.
For bath time, try the aromatic bath wash ($14). The scent and ingredients — which are naturally derived and primarily organic — not only protect and soothe fragile skin, but also work to calm baby and her frazzled parents!
The collection may be small, but it’s thorough, also featuring baby lotion ($15.50) and our absolute favorite diaper spray ($13). Sold in a 2.4 ounce spray bottle, it seals out wetness and germs, cools chapped skin and protects rashes already in progress. Best of all, you won’t need to worry about your hands irritating baby’s sore bum, as you do while applying a thick paste or cream.
So what are you waiting for? Have a spa day every day with baby.

Thanks for welcoming our newest celebrity blogger, Marissa Jaret Winokur!

Thanks for welcoming our newest celebrity blogger, Marissa Jaret Winokur! The actress, who co-hosts the new CBS daytime chat show, The Talk, is mom to 2-year-old Zev Isaac with her husband Judah Miller. Winokur, 37, was diagnosed with cervical cancer nine years ago, had a hysterectomy and later welcomed her son with the help of a surrogate. Though her road to motherhood had a few twists and turns, she faces the same joys — and challenges — as any working mom. In her latest blog, Winokur tells of accidentally locking Zev in the car — and feeling judged by other moms for it.

Courtesy Marissa Jaret Winokur

Bullying seems to be all the talk this month, so I want to talk about mommy bullies! It’s not like I drive Zev to preschool and there’s a mom waiting there to steal my lunch money or tease me about being fat … but the mommy bullies are just as scary and threatening!
The Club
I find that the “moms club” is a very, very exclusive club! It’s the club of mothers who wear skinny jeans and white button-down shirts and wash their hair twice a day! I do NOT, and mothers who do make me feel really bad. You know who I am talking about!
Just to be clear, my husband was very grateful I started working again — because it meant I’d wash my hair and change my clothes. (I live in “workout clothes” … and never work out!) If no tissue is in arm’s reach, I’d rather wipe Zev’s nose on my sleeve than let it run. How many of you have licked a pacifier or a lollipop clean if it falls on the floor before giving it back to your child? Yes, I am that mom…
I guess it’s more that I feel judged than bullied, but moms are really hard on other moms! We are all stressed out and at the end of our ropes. At any second of any day I feel like I could just snap.
We have to support each other’s tired nerves, I know that sounds so Pollyanna, but really … Mommy groups can be amazing, but haven’t you ever gone to one and felt like you are back in high school, totally on the outside of the “cool kids” club? I totally have!!

Courtesy Marissa Jaret Winokur
The Car Incident
Okay, so here’s what set this off: I pull into the parking lot of the preschool the other day with Zev crying his eyes out, not wanting to get out of the car. I grab his knapsack and stick my phone and keys inside it because I know I’ll need both hands to wrestle Zev out of the car.
I start putting his sneakers on while he’s still strapped into his car seat, with the door wide open and the knapsack next to him. A rude mom asks if I can shut the door so she can get out. I say, “One sec.” Then she said, “I’m in a rush,” so I say, “Oh fine!”
I shut the door and back away so she can get out. Then I hear “BEEP BEEP.” OMG! OMG! The car is locked!! I locked the doors before placing the keys into Zev’s bag! And now the bag with my keys and phone are inside with my son, who is already scared to death!!
“Call 911, call 911,” I start screaming. The secretary comes out and says, “Call AAA.” I just know that will take too long. I cry, “Call 911!” I start losing my cool … so now my son and I are both crying. I tell the secretary, “I’ll just break a window,” thinking that would make her realize how serious I am. It works! I hear the sirens coming.
By now, every mother is watching — NOT HELPING — watching me and my son as if we were a reality TV show and not living breathing humans! Mind you, I’m wearing what I wore to bed (leggings and a tank top), I have makeup on from the night before, my hair is tied back in a rat’s nest and I’m barefoot because my flip-flops are stuck in the car.
I could feel the moms’ judging looks piercing through me. One mom tried to make me feel better, but I think it was really just to get a closer look!
The firemen quickly free my son. We both can’t stop crying (though the hot firemen make us both feel better, and my son gets to see a real live fire truck up close)! The school faculty tell me I can’t leave because I’m too upset to drive. So I sit on the front steps with Zev and wait until they say I can go. I will say, one mom did sit with me to help calm me down.
When I talked about it with my family and friends later, everyone had a story about how it had either happened to them too or someone they knew! No one — I repeat no one from the school had a story to share: They all seemed to think that it was strange I was sitting there barefoot, crying. I think it would have been stranger if I wasn’t crying!
Anyway, here’s the deal: If we aren’t nice to each other as mommies, our children will learn from us and they won’t be nice to each other in school. It starts with us. (P.S. — the woman who sat with me to make me feel better? She has the sweetest daughter in the world and that’s not a coincidence.)
Appreciation and Advice
Note from last week: Thank you for all your support and comments! That was the first time I really felt like part of a “mommy club.” My balancing act has gotten worse and I need a sleeping intervention … maybe next week!
Okay wait, one more thing! Being Halloween week, I need advice. It took me weeks to get Zev to put on a costume. Weeks! But now that I got him in it, he won’t take it off!! I do not want to celebrate Thanksgiving with the Incredible Hulk. What do I do?!

In the effort to balance working motherhood, Tina Fey keeps her approach simple. “Whenever you can, just go home,” the 30 Rock actress, 40, advises Time Out New York Kids.
It would undoubtedly be a hard mantra for her character on the hit NBC show to adopt, but Fey insists that  workaholic Liz Lemon nonetheless “would make a great mom.”
“She’s used to sacrificing her dignity for others, which is parenting in a nutshell,” Fey quips.
Daughter Alice Zenobia, 5, is keying in to mom’s high-profile career, including her former role on Saturday Night Live.

“She thinks Amy Poehler is a lot funnier than me,” Fey shares. “The other day, she came up to me very worried and asked, ‘Mommy, why does Date Night have so much love in it?’ If she sees me doing a scene with a man who’s not Daddy [composer Jeff Richmond], she gets very upset. It’s nothing against Steve Carrell; Alice is just looking out for Daddy’s best interests.”
What’s in Alice’s best interest is growing up a New Yorker, according to Fey, who calls the Upper East Side “a great place to raise a youngster.”
Admitting that “there’s a little La Leche pressure when you’re with a newborn there,” Fey says she loves that in her neighborhood “kids are allowed to be kids.”
“They get to dress sloppy, spill things on themselves, run around and play in the park,” she continues. “There’s no preciousness; it’s all very normal.”
While cramped living quarters remains a drawback — “the lack of toy management at my house because of that fact is, frankly, stunning,” Fey admits — cultural opportunities abound.
“When I was growing up [in Upper Darby, Penn.], going to a museum was a big deal,” she explains. “It was a major day trip that you had to plan for. Here, you walk out your front door and five minutes later, bam! You’re staring at dinosaur bones. The proximity is great. Of course, if you ask Alice, she’ll say that all she wants is a yard.”
